Visit of the Council of Europe expert group on violence against women to Luxembourg
A delegation of the Council of Europe’s Group of Experts on Action against Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (GREVIO) will carry out an assessment visit to Luxembourg from October 24 to 27, 2022. This visit is part of the procedure for monitoring Luxembourg’s implementation of the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence ( Istanbul Convention).
The Istanbul Convention is based on the idea that States must fully combat gender-based violence in all its forms and take measures to prevent such violence, protect victims and prosecute perpetrators.
Meetings will be held with representatives of various ministries and public bodies, in particular the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies, the Ministry of National Education, Children and Youth, the Ministry of Equality between Women and Men, the Ministry of the Family, Integration and the Greater Region, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Internal Security, the Ministry of Labour, Employment and the Social and Solidarity Economy, the Interministerial Committee for Human Rights, the Cooperation-Operation Committee between Professionals in the Fight against Violence. In addition, the GREVIO delegation will meet representatives of non-governmental and civil society organizations working in the field of violence against women and national human rights institutions.
GREVIO plans to publish its evaluation report on Luxembourg during 2023.
